I want to make sure you are aware that AES has approved the Education Conference for San Diego on June 24 – 26, 2027. I am already seeing ads for the other Educators gatherings for 2027. The conference in San Diego will not be as loud, and unlike other gatherings focused on exhibition, there will be no flashing lights or a parade (unless we ask really nicely).

What we will have in San Diego is dedicated US educators talking in depth about their experiences in the classroom and with their administrations about ways they have found to improve the experience for themselves and their students. There will be papers, panels, and presentations. The one thing I found lacking in some other conferences was in depth analysis and deep academic content. To be clear, in San Diego, we will be hyper focused on the US education system, and we will be trading all the bells and whistles for sharing in depth education ideas, that we plan to fully explore. And we’ll have fun doing it, because we will have mixers and other networking opportunities, and they also have great tacos in San Diego! Please feel free to share this with` your sections, and any other educators who may be interested.

I hope to see you there (or maybe sooner, in Lima in August, or in Nashville in October).

    Hi Gary,

Thanks for sharing this and for all the work going into organizing the Education Conference in San Diego – it sounds fantastic, and the focus on in‑depth academic content is very appealing.

By way of introduction, I’m currently a lecturer in audio and music production at PXL-Music in Belgium. From March through July 2027, I’ll be teaching at UC Riverside, so I should be relatively close by for the conference.

Would it be interesting or useful for the program if I contributed a talk or session comparing aspects of audio/music education in Europe and the US, and some of the differences I’ve observed, possibly in curricula, pedagogy, and institutional context?

    Best,

    fd

That sounds like it would be a great presentation, keep watching the AES website for the Call for Papers, and make the submission.

      Thank you!!!
