I am surprised to note the absence of 'amplitude-probability distribution' included in the list of characteristics. Not everything is Gaussian, and this can have profound effects. I have done some work on this and have a Mathcad worksheet that finds APDs from .wav files. -- OOO - Own Opinions Only. See www.jmwa.demon.co.uk SHOCK HORROR! Is it possible that some inaudible frequencies are amplified and become audible because of some acoustics phenomenon of a particular room ? Some sound systems can induce unwanted harmonics of the original sound, then these harmonics could be amplified in the acoustic chain even if they are inaudible in the begining... I hope I made myself clear.
