      Summary

In the vibrant city of La Paz, Bolivia, the first Latin American Audio Convention took place from Tuesday, September 10, to Thursday, September 12, 2024. Argentina played a key role, not only through its technical contributions but also thanks to the warmth of its professionals and students.
The opening day felt like a concert with resonating Argentine voices. At Auditorium B, Gustavo Constantino led with his talk “Quantizer in Latin Music,” followed by Gabriel Ortega’s presentation on “Theory and Principles of Directivity in Line Arrays.” The afternoon concluded with Sebastián Choque’s passionate talk on “How and Where to Position Ourselves in the New Music Ecosystem.”
Meanwhile, at the AES-GENELEC Immersive Room, Francisco Bissone presented “Audiovisual Post Production with Dolby Atmos.” The day ended with Christian Paladino, Vice Chair of AES Argentina, discussing “Recording and Preserving Acoustic Identity in Record Production,” closing the first day with a golden touch.

Wednesday, September 11, focused on audio education. I opened the day with the only talk aimed at students: “Guided Project Method: Toward More Active and Participatory Learning,” which reflected on the role of teachers and Faculty Advisors.
In the afternoon, the Student Recording Competition showcased young talent. The Student Sections AES-ECOS, AES-AURAL, AES-TAMABA, and AES-UNTREF presented projects across various categories. Lucas Mechehem from AES-ECOS won the Gold Medal in Category 1, while Francisco Parodi from AES-UNTREF earned the same in Category 2, highlighting the dedication of our students.
Argentine judges Marcelo Depetro, Ezequiel Morfi, Iván Markovic, and I evaluated entries across multiple categories, contributing our expertise.

On Thursday, September 12, Argentina remained prominent. At Auditorium B, Ezequiel Kosiner Blanco, Secretary of AES Argentina, and Marcelo Depetro presented “Mono-Compatible and Non-Mono-Compatible Microphone Techniques.” Later, Ezequiel Morfi debunked mastering myths with his talk “Introduction to Mastering: Destroying Myths.”

In the afternoon, Francisco Bissone joined Latin American experts in the panel “Present and Future of Immersive Audio,” while Iván Markovic closed the event with “Music Mixing in Dolby Atmos.”
The AES Argentina Board participated in the Latin American Sections Plenary, where fraternal bonds were strengthened, and a joint roadmap was laid out, leading to AES LAC 2025 in Mexico City.
AES Argentina celebrates these achievements, driven by teamwork and knowledge exchange. We look forward to meeting again in Mexico City.
